Our Story — How Nagpur Got Its First Soft Play Zone
On 11th March 2018, Topsy Turvy opened at Plot No. 15, Everise on WHC Road — and with it, Nagpur got its first purpose-built soft play zone. The concept was simple but it hadn’t existed here before: a safe, padded, endlessly engaging physical play space for young children, wrapped around a gaming zone for older kids, a café for grown-ups and a proper party hall for celebrations. Everything a family needs, in one building, in the middle of the city.
What We Believed From Day One
We started with a conviction that play is serious business. Developmental research has been saying it for decades — children who engage in active, imaginative, social play develop stronger motor skills, deeper creativity and healthier emotional regulation than those who don’t. But knowing this and building a space that actually delivers it are two very different things.
We obsessed over the details. Padding thickness. Height of platforms relative to average age. Sightlines from the café into the play zone. Noise levels. Hygiene protocols. The ratio of staff to children during peak hours. None of these things show up in a brochure, but every one of them shows up in your experience when you bring your child here for the first time.
Seven Years In — What We've Learned
Running Nagpur’s busiest children’s play venue for seven years teaches you things no business plan anticipates. You learn that the three-year-old who screams at the entrance is usually the one who refuses to leave two hours later. You learn that birthday parties are really for parents as much as children — because a well-run party means a mum or dad gets to relax and be present instead of running logistics. You learn that trust, once earned, brings families back season after season.
We’ve hosted first birthdays and tenth birthdays. We’ve been the weekend destination for families from Shankar Nagar and the special-occasion treat for families who drive in from Hingna or Kamptee. Nearly 2,000 Google reviews with a 4.5-star average tells us we’re getting more right than wrong — but we don’t stop asking how to do better.

Topsy Turvy is run by people who genuinely like children. That sounds obvious, but it’s rarer than you’d think in a hospitality setting. Our floor staff are trained to be warm without being intrusive, watchful without being overbearing. They know when a shy child needs a gentle nudge toward the ball pit and when a tired child needs their parent to be summoned quietly. The café team knows the difference between a stressed parent who needs five minutes of peace and one who wants to chat. These soft skills don’t appear in job descriptions but they define every visit.
